Get Organized and be productive January 2019

NAPO-NY 2019 GO Month Project

What is GO Month?

January is Get Organized & Be Productive (GO) Month, an annual initiative sponsored by the National Association of Productivity & Organizing Professionals (NAPO). This month-long event increases general public awareness of what NAPO is and how our members are drivers of change by providing unique services tailored to meet their individual client needs.

January is the ideal time for GO Month since “change” is a popular New Year’s resolution. During GO Month, NAPO professional organizers and productivity consultants across the country host events in their communities to empower individuals, families, businesses, and organizations to regain control over their surroundings, time and possessions.

In the past, the NAPO-NY chapter has donated its expert skills, advice, supplies and tools to a worthy group in need of organizing assistance, including several schools and non-profit groups.

What is NAPO-NY doing for GO Month this year?

This year NAPO-NY will be helping a high school in Brooklyn that works with special needs kids who come from disadvantaged homes. Many of the kids are on the autism spectrum or have other physical or emotional concerns that challenge their learning process.

The school helps prepare the kids for post-high school education and work and it has been building a college preparatory and vocational training materials section within their library. The school has struggled with setting up an efficient system for organizing the various materials, making the materials available to the kids, and creating a system that is easy to maintain.

Due to the school day schedule, volunteers from NAPO-NY will be visiting from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on 2 days, January 22 and 30. The plan is to use the first day to identity needs, develop a plan and begin to implement it. The second day would be to finish the work and give the school feedback and a follow-up plan.

Members who wish to help can sign up for one day or both days.

If you signed up during the January chapter meeting, there is no need to email unless your plans have changed. If you have not signed up yet and you are able to attend one or both days or have any questions, please email NAPO-NY GO Month Coordinator Karin Socci at:

We hope to see you there!
